  • Became boring

I have subscribed to Audm for years and since NYT took it over it has gotten more and more boring. I subscribe to the NYT and the New Yorker already so I really valued the previous diversity of content and publications. It really is such a loss. Please re-diversify more.

I'm grateful to have access to all these fine articles from leading publications. I enjoy it very much. It's easy to use.
  • Still buggy after all these updates

AUDM has great content though, as others have pointed out, has sparse offerings from some of the publications that may have attracted you. The app is a stripped down audio player with no bookmarking, cross device play is hit and miss if you use more than one device, forget trying to fast scrub by touch—it isn’t supported. It will not play next in Low Power Mode. The app also stutters, does weird time indexing (buffer mishandling), inserts strange awkward pauses. “Did the article end?” “No it’s just pausing for irritating effect.” It is very difficult to recommend the service as implemented despite the great content. Today I could not get the app to play for several minutes without quitting the app repeatedly. These are issues still present from prior versions! Does the developer do version updates to bump bad reviews? I may cancel out of frustration, but I will give it one more version 0.0.X Next version was a month later, and it still did not address most bugs described above.
  • Please hire narrators who can pronounce properly

Note to Audm: When recording articles with non-English names, places, phrases, please hire narrators who know how to pronounce the aforementioned. Just listened to an article on China, and the pronunciation was atrocious. I am fluent in Chinese, and have a decent ear for different accents, and it was obvious the narrator was simply clueless. It defeats the purpose of listening if one has to look up what was printed every other paragraph.
  • Good content but text way to light

Much of the text color is too light. Assuming it would not meet a11y contrast rules.

Great ap because listening to this length article is easier for me because I can walk and listen! Thank you
  • No indication the app is pay-only

You have to read the entire description to the very end to realize that once you download the app you have to use a free trial or pay. There is no indication that it’s not a free app otherwise. This might be Apple‘s fault for not making it obvious as a rule - but it is still very deceptive to have people give you their email before you tell them this. Now I have given them my email address only to delete the app upon realizing. Thanks for nothing.
  • Great content, terrible app

Please fix the app. It is so glitchy!! I can’t get through an article without some type of failure—skipping paragraphs, pausing and restating somewhere else on the page, etc. It causes a terrible listening experience.
  • Sounds glitchy

Why does this app sound so glitchy. It’s awful. Subscribed to listen to a NYT article and it sounds like I’m streaming it from a dial up modem from 1995. Would have thought it would sound better!
  • Maybe it’s me….

I find the application to navigate. I don’t seem to be able to add new content from publications I did not initially select. Can’t really “discover” much of anything. .
